A$AP Mob - 6/6/12

So last wednesday I went to the A$AP Rocky concert at the Electric Ballroom with two of my favourite show buddies on earth: Nicola and Nikita.

Myself and Nicola

Me ready to get hype in my Timbs

Being seasoned concert-goers (if 5 concerts counts as such - ha!) we were first in line and so when we got inside the venue we were literally front and centre. We were stood for a while before A$AP came out but the opening act StarSlinger played some decent tracks and some of his own material. A$AP's DJ played a short set before introducing that PMF A$AP Rocky!!!

A$AP Rocky

Have to say this was one of the best shows EVER. He's good at interacting with the crowd and it was nice to see some of the other members like A$AP Twelvy. However because my SLR was taken by security I had to rely on my disposables and boy oh boy did they let me down. Some pictures came out semi-decent.

Hyped crowd - thanks for the bruises

Nicola, Nikita and I

Until the next concert
P.S. Sorry for the lack of posts.

Kolkata

posted on: Thursday 23 February 2012

I was recently afforded the opportunity to travel to Kolkata, India through Create Voice; a young people's forum at the Victoria and Albert Museum that I have been involved with since summer 2011. Myself and other young people from Accra, Dresden and Kolkata attended a conference on Urban Changes and Culture organised by Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden. The purpose of the conference (in my opinion) was to get young people to act as a sort of think tank in which we would discuss the effects of rapid socio-economic development and globalisation on cultural institutions around the world. This may sound quite heavy and stuffy but the organisers of the trip planned the itinerary in such a way as to allow us to discover the exciting city that is Kolkata for ourselves.

Kolkata is a noisy, colourful and restless city offering a plethora of sights, sounds and tastes. It's citizens and most gracious hosts have an almost unmatched willingness to share their culture and their history. I had the best of times there and will forever be grateful to all those who made it possible. The short amount of time I spent there only gave me a snippet of what the former capital of India has to offer and I one day hope to return so I can experience it all. For now, the pictures and memories I cherish will have to suffice.

This Is A Test Post

My very first post is a test post. How sad
